Generally, the first few appointments are focused on assessment, meaning how has your presenting concern impacted your life and wellness, and on building a safe therapeutic relationship for the work ahead. Trauma-focused therapy is a deep process that takes time to do in a safe, and non re-traumatizing way. Each session and the overall course of treatment will be determined collaboratively with your specific goals and needs in mind.
It is not possible to predict an exact course of psychotherapy or amount of appointments needed, as every individual's needs are unique. However, as trauma therapy is deeply personal work, it often takes several sessions before improvements are noted.
I can provide direct billing for some insurance companies, please reach out to check if I am able to direct bill for your provider.
Yes, and no. Prior to trauma processing occurring, there must be safety in the therapeutic relationship, assessment must occur, as well as resourcing. All of this is part of EMDR therapy, however we will not jump straight in to processing trauma.
You can book an appointment online, following the "Book Now' link at the top right of the home page. You can also reach out via email or phone if you do not want to book online, or if the time you want is not available online.
